What You Can Do To Reduce the Energy Costs of Your Home

July 16, 2021/in Advice/Education

We always try to empower our readers to be more energy efficient.

Of course we’d love for everyone to install a solar array on their home, property, or business, but we know some of you are looking to start small. It is often hard to know where to begin and most homeowners start with many questions and only a few answers.

Here’s a helpful chart about what you can do to reduce your energy costs today!

Action $$ Saved
Cooling Set to 78 degrees; 85 when no one’s home $100
Heating Set to 67; 59 when no one’s home $100+
Heating Water Take fewer showers; Launder with cold water $100+
LED lights Switch non-LED bulbs to LED $100
Appliances Unplug unused appliances $50-$150

Around the globe there is also a trend to try turning off all your devices and lights for one night a week or even one night a month. This is a great time to play board games by candlelight or enjoy connecting with friends and family over conversation.

Legacy Solar Cooperative of Wisconsin is committed to assisting the growth of solar electricity through consultation, financing, and group purchases.  Membership is open to individuals, non-profits, and commercial organizations.
