Western Dane County Solar Group Buy 2020

Legacy Solar Co-op (LSC), in conjunction with the Town of Vermont’s Climate Action Committee and other communities, was proud to offer the residents of western Dane County a Solar Group Buy Program for the installation of new, residential solar arrays at a lower price than a typical residential installation. This program lasted from May through December 2020. Look for others like it in 2021!

The goal of the program was to increase solar education and adoption in the communities of Western Dane County, including Vermont Township, Middleton, Mount Horeb, Black Earth, Blue Mounds, Mazomanie, Cross Plains, Verona, Berry, Springdale and the surrounding area.

Chosen Installers

LSC and the Western Dane County Solar Group Buy Selection Committee chose All Sky Energy of Baraboo and Eagle Point Solar, which has offices in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, as installers for the group buy. These two companies partnered to present a proposal that was professional and competitive.

How a Group Buy Works

A group buy program typically offers lower rates than individually developed solar projects because of competitive bidding and economy of scale (read more). It consists of the following steps:

  1.  Participate in an educational event / ask questions
  2.  Contract proposal, signing and project schedule
  3.  Installation
  4.  Commissioning or interconnection
