Perennial Cooperative
LOCATION: Madison, Wisconsin | CAPACITY: 14.4 kW | COMPLETION DATE: February 2023
SOLAR CONTRACTOR:
Perennial Co-op is an 11-member housing co-op that provides permanent affordable housing on Madison’s south-east side of town.
The Challenge
Perennial Co-op was looking for ways to make their house more sustainable, as well as ways to keep the expenses of the co-op more affordable over many decades.
Solar Solution
Legacy Solar Co-op helped Perennial Co-op to select their installer, and identify what grants and other credits they could use to make their solar project affordable and possible.
Outcome
Seven months after activating the solar panels, Perennial Co-op reports: “Our energy costs have decreased substantially (sometimes our MG&E bill is negative!) It is also gratifying to know that most of our energy use is being produced in a sustainable way.”
Testimonial
Legacy Solar Co-op helped our organization to identify a variety of grants and tax credits that ultimately made it possible for us to install a solar array on our co-op. We did not know all of the opportunities for funding that were available or how they could all be leveraged to support our project. We would not have pursued this project without the support of Legacy Solar Co-op! ~ Gabrielle Hinahara
